We’re looking for a strong software engineer who’s excited to take on the challenge of integrating AI-generated layout into real-world chip design flows.
This isn’t a legacy CAD tools role, it’s a ground-up opportunity to build clean, modern infrastructure that bridges Astrus with the EDA ecosystem. You’ll help ensure our output fits seamlessly into designers’ workflows - from OpenAccess to DRC, LVS, and beyond - while writing high-quality, extensible code that can grow with us.
You don’t need to be an expert in analog layout or EDA yet, but you do need to love learning new domains, working closely with end users, and building robust tooling at the intersection of software, silicon, and AI.

Build systems and tooling to export Astrus layouts into industry-standard formats (OA, GDSII, CDL)
Create reliable, well-modeled data pipelines that connect layout generation to verification and designer feedback
Own the integration layer between Astrus and commercial EDA flows, ensuring we slot cleanly into existing design stacks
Write clean, scalable infrastructure in Python (plus SKILL/Tcl as needed)
Collaborate with analog designers, product engineers, and AI researchers to shape system boundaries and abstractions
Learn the relevant parts of EDA as you go with support from our team and design partners
Participate in early customer integration work, helping Astrus become usable in tapeout-quality environments

An excellent software engineer. You model data well, write clean abstractions, and build for long-term maintainability.
You’ve worked on complex backend or infra systems, ideally with data flowing through many stages
You’re comfortable owning a slice of the stack and diving deep into unfamiliar technical domains
You enjoy writing clean tooling, not just infrastructure for AI, but for people
You’re excited to work at the boundary of AI, semiconductors, and real-world product constraints
Experience with EDA tools, OpenAccess, or layout formats is a bonus, but not required
